💚💚💚Hui-ā-tau – Te Au o te Mauri 💚💚💚
On the 3rd of June, we welcomed 100 graduates, funders, friends of the kaupapa and whānau to our inaugural Ngākau Aroha Hui-ā-tau, Te Au o te Mauri. We loved coming together in-person to re-energise the kaupapa with our graduates, and to celebrate 8 years since this kaupapa started and 5 years since we piloted Ngākau Aroha for Kaimahi.
Hosted by Te Puea Marae, we were grateful to hear from our keynote speakers, Hon. Marama Davidson MP and Pio Terei, both of whom captivated our rōpū with their pūrākau and insights. Taonga pūoro filled the wharenui as we listened to Eli Maiava, followed by the sharing of mātauranga from Dr Joni Angeli-Gordon. Kahui Whetū and Te Whare Hou Ako also joined us at our māketi, showcasing their products alongside our resource tēpu.
Our funding allowed us to bring our Ngākau Aroha graduates in from all over Aotearoa to spend this special day together, meeting many of them ā-kanohi for the very first time. Seeing our online whānau come together in-person was so special. 😊 Special mention for the rōpū of graduates from Whānau Āwhina Plunket, who have been part of our haerenga from the early days. 💚
This entire event was made possible through the generous support of our funders, The Tindall Foundation, Anglican Care Waiapu and the Rātā Foundation - we are incredibly thankful for their contribution.
We are so grateful to come together and celebrate our kaupapa, and are thrilled with the success of our first Hui-ā-tau. The day was unforgettable - and we're already excitedly planning the next one. 😁
Mauri ora!
