Hui-ā-Tau Marama Davidson Pio Terei Eli Maiava

Our first Ngākau Aroha Hui-ā-Tau is now complete

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou, kua tae mai nei, ā-tinana, ki te karanga o te kaupapa. We are so grateful to each of you who joined us to reconnect with us and the kaupapa. It was a beautiful day celebrating this kaupapa, celebrating the journey so far, and celebrating all of you and the mahi you do with whānau Māori everyday!

A massive thank you to our team and our wonderful speakers for bringing mātauranga, strategies, and inspiration that we can put in our kete.

Please feel free to look through the information and resources remaining on our page below.

Mauri ora!

Te Whakapapa o te Kaupapa

Eight years ago, Liz and her Mum first strode out together to start this kaupapa. They were driven by a clear vision: Empower whānau with mātauranga to raise pēpi and tamariki who are happy, loved, and strong.

Five years ago, after her Mum had passed, Liz launched Ngākau Aroha for Kaimahi, an in-depth journey grounded in mātauranga to grow more leaders of this kaupapa. Today, we stand as a national movement of over 200 graduates.

This Hui-ā-Tau is a celebration of that journey - the road so far and the journey to come. We are coming together on Wednesday 3rd June, 2026 at Te Puea Memorial Marae in Tamaki-makaurau.

Why Attend?

Tania and other Kaiako in wānanga

This day is for all Ngākau Aroha graduates who want to re-energise their wairua for this kaupapa. Our graduates are the key to us achieving our vision. We know that the work they do everyday weaves this kaupapa into reality for whānau across the motu.

Supporting Ngākau Aroha graduates continues to be a critical part of the Tūpuna Parenting Movement. We've designed this day to be useful and interesting for you all. We hope you'll:

  • Grow Your Kete: Re-energise the kaupapa for you & gain fresh mātauranga, sharing strategies & skills for your mahi.
  • Refill Your Puna: Take a day for yourself to refresh away from your daily mahi.
  • Build Your Village: Network and collaborate with other graduates from across the motu to build a community of practice.

Te Au o te Mauri — The Flow of the Mauri

Our theme for the day is about driving this movement forward. Te Au o te Mauri is the life force of our collective mahi - it has been flowing through our graduates for five years and our vision for eight. It is the force that breaks down systemic barriers and opens up new paths for whānau.

Join us to align our mauri, re-energise ourselves, and prepare for the journey ahead.

  • Interactive activities: The kōrero our speakers share also have activities to weave the learnings into your practical mahi.
  • Kēmu / Games: We can have fun while we wānanga! So we have a couple of kēmu prepared for the day.
  • Meet the Kaiako: Many of our Kaiako team are planning to attend! Reconnect and share some laughs with them, they're looking forward to seeing you.
  • Networking: Our graduates are from different kaupapa across the motu, and we'd love for you to connect and collaborate with each other.

We look forward to seeing the impact of 100 graduates in one room, sharing mātauranga and enhancing our strategies together.
